A Secret Plan
INT.DAVID’S HOME, LIVING ROOM- NIGHT
DAVID is watching a movie. He is 27 years old white guy with
attractive looks. He laughs over scenes.
The phone rings...
David reaches to grab it.
DAVID
(into phone)
Hello!
(beat)
Hello...
SAM (V.O)
(over phone, filtered)
I’m gonna kill you.
DAVID
(into phone, anxious)
Who the hell is this?
SAM (V.O)
(over phone, filtered)
Your old friend.
The phone goes dead.
EXT. BEACH SIDE - MORNING
David walks along with CARLA. She is in her mid twenties,
very attractive and handsome girl.
CARLA
Why are you looking so depressed?
DAVID
Hmm, didn’t get a proper sleep,
last night.
CARLA
But you look as if there is
something else other than your
sleep.
DAVID
Yes, may be my over-work schedule
in the office?
Both halt for a moment.
2.
CARLA
Trust me, David. Tell, what’s going
on?
David shook his head for a while
DAVID
I got a call last night, a man’s
voice, threatened to kill me.
CARLA
Are you serious?
DAVID
Damn serious.
CARLA
Who could it be...?
DAVID
Someone, he said, from my old
friends.
CARLA
He could be MAC then. He’s just out
of jail and you know, he hates you.
DAVID
Come on! Those were all little
teenage fights. Nothing serious.
CARLA
Then...?
DAVID
I suspect Irvin.
CARLA
Why him?
DAVID
He’s jealous of you Carla, being my
girl.
CARLA
That makes no sense.
DAVID
Actually, he met me last week on
the mall and....
3.
CARLA
What did he say?
DAVID
He said...,Oh, I’ve to go.
David runs toward his car.
CARLA
David....!
INT.DAVID’S HOME, LIVING ROOM- NIGHT
David holds a TV remote in his hands, punching on buttons.
Suddenly, we hear a clattering sound of a window glass being
broken. David eyes go wide. He starts breathing heavily,
scans the room.
The sound is heard again but this time its from the
upstairs. David, moves purringly around and then goes
upstairs, carefully placing his feet, gently herds up on
stairs.
INT. UPSTAIRS - NIGHT
We pan across a room. The cupboard on the wall is wide open,
with clothes falling out of it on the floor. We end the pan
with a window being broken. David rushes toward it but only
to see his cat being killed. A knife is still in her body
and she is squatted in blood. David stuns with bewilderment.
Phone rings...
David rushes back but slips upon the stairs and rolls down
onto the floor.
Phone still rings...
He manages himself to get up, screams with pain but
reaches to grab the phone.
DAVID
(into phone)
Hello!
SAM (V.O)
(over phone, filtered)
This was just a rehearsal.
You’re next.
(laughs)
4.
The phone goes dead.
INT. DAVID’S CAR (MOVING)- DAY
David is driving the car and Carla sits next to him on the
passenger’s seat. They are really moving fast.
CARLA
Where we’re going?
DAVID
I’ve to look someone out somewhere.
CARLA
Come on David! what’s the problem?
why we’re in a haste? Can’t we sort
it down right here first?
DAVID
No, I’ve to find him right at his
fucking place.
We see a heavy truck comes rushing down into them form the
front. At the last moment, David enables to get away from its
line and in the course they hit on to a road side protection
iron bar. The car ceases to stop. The radiator goes busted.
CARLA
You ok.?
DAVID
Yeah, and you?
CARLA
I’m fine.
David comes out of the car, pummeling the tires in distress.
Carla hands out her mobile and speaks to someone, which we
don’t hear.
EXT. IRVIN’S HOME - DAY
David’s car pulls up to IRVIN’S home. He holds on a gun,
pointing toward the skies, fires...
Far end of the horizon, a bird falls down on the ground.
IRVIN
Sorry baby!
5.
INT. DAVID’S CAR - DAY
CARLA
So it’s him, Irvin?
DAVID
Yeah, he is doing all those calls.
CARLA
Are you sure?
DAVID
Damn sure.
EXT. IRVIN’S HOME - DAY
David and Carla come out of the car and move slowly towards
Irvin. He sees them, coming.
IRVIN
What brings you here David?
DAVID
You know better, don’t you?
IRVIN
(laughs)
I’m not a God.
DAVID
I guess, you’re not even a human
being.
IRVIN
I don’t want to mess up with you
right now. I’ve other things to
finish that are more important.
CARLA
We just come in to...
DAVID
(interrupts)
So what the hell you were talking
on that day on the mall?
IRVIN
(laughs)
I reckon you took it damn
seriously?
6.
DAVID
That’s why I’m here with my girl.
Now show up.
CARLA
David has received a few awful
calls. He suspects...
DAVID
So what you think, you rat, I’m
afraid of your threats.
IRVIN
(laughs)
A stupid goose can’t be shot,
right?
DAVID
Come on! Show up!
IRVIN
(groans)
Get out of my sight, don’t suck...
CARLA
(interrupts)
Ok, ok, cool guys.
Irvin comes closer to Carla, hold her chin in his hand,
PULLS her face.
IRVIN
Ok, you little chic. I’m cool.
DAVID
Get the fucking hand of yours out
of her.
He gets off.
CARLA
It’s ok, David.
The next moment, he pulls her hand forcefully.
DAVID
I say, get off.
IRVIN
What if I don’t...?
David pulls out .38 revolver and gets closer to them.
7.
DAVID
Then, I’ll shoot you, right here.
Irvin laughs his lungs out.
IRVIN
You freaky pig. You can’t.
Irvin pulls up his gun in a flash of a second.
IRVIN (CONT’D)
I never miss a bird. You may call
it...my bad habit.
David looses his temper. His face turns red. He pulls on a
trigger...
Irvin adjusts his grounds.
Carla runs to end up in between them.
CARLA
Hold on, David. What do you think
you’re?
DAVID
Get out of my sight, Carla. I’m
gonna kill him.
IRVIN
Just do what he says, Carla. Let
him know how fucking bad I’m. Get
aside.
CARLA
No, no, no. Please! stop both of
you. Please!...
DAVID
No, I gonna smash his head in two.
Irvin pushes her back and takes his position.
David pulls the trigger...
CARLA
Don’t David, please...
The fire is shot. We stay on Carla, who starts crying.
8.
INT.DAVID’S HOME, DAVID’S ROOM- NIGHT
David sleeps on his bed. We see, the lever of the door
slides down slowly, making a crinkling sound.
We can see by his body gesture, a faint shiver run through
his body. David gets up in a hurry, holds on his weapon and
runs toward the door. He stops for a moment and then pulls
to open the door in a flash. He sees nothing there.
Suddenly he hears, a roar of a car being started. He runs up
to the window to look down. There is a man with a big
mustache, in the car, struggling to get off. David stuns...
DAVID
What the hell he’s doing here?
INT. FAST FOOD RESTAURANT - DAY
David and Carla sit at a rowdy place, eating their soups.
DAVID
You were right, I saw him.
CARLA
Who did you see?
(a pause)
DAVID
I was so weird getting bad with
Irvin. I’m really depressed these
days, that is also hindering
my routine office work.
CARLA
Who did you see. David?
DAVID
I’ll tell you. My boss, uh, he is
so annoyed with me about my
behavior these days. I have to call
him. May be,I need a few days rest.
EXT. FAST FOOD RESTAURANT - SAME TIME
Sam sits in his truck with his face covered up. He points
out his high range rifle.
SAM’S P.O.V - SCOPE MATTE
- targets David, through the glass window of the Fast Food
restaurant. A waitress emerges at the table.
9.
BACK TO SCENE
Sam holds back for a while.
INT. FAST FOOD RESTAURANT - DAY
David finishes up his soup.
WAITRESS
Anything else, sir?
DAVID
No, thanks.
The waitress moves away.
CARLA
So who you saw, last night?
DAVID
I simply can’t imagine that it
was him.
EXT. FAST FOOD RESTAURANT - SAME TIME
Sam takes on the target and fires two shots in a succession.
The front big glass window shatters, falling into tiny
pieces, creating a terrifying sound. Everyone in the
restaurant ducks down.
INT. FAST FOOD RESTAURANT - DAY
Camera pans across the restaurant and ends up on the
waitress, shot down, squatting in a pool of blood. we hear
screams across the hall.
David looks waveredly everywhere, only to see Sam’s truck
spurts off, in a splash, wiggling right and left,
disappearing from the frame.
Carla looks shocked by her face impressions.
EXT. TELEPHONE BOOTH - DAY
David enters into the booth on a busy street. A MAN from far
behind watches him secretly with his face covered up. David
feels his presence, turns around and sees no one standing
there. He picks up the receiver. The camera pans to reveal
the MAN still watches him. David takes a break, turns
around, only to see him, running away.
10.
David drops the receiver and aimlessly runs after him.
SERIES OF SHOTS - DAVID RUNS AFTER THE MAN
A) Dodging people on the street.
B) Smashing on with the passing cars.
C) Struggling to catch him close.
David ends up in catching him. Both fall down on the
ground. People watch them in astonishment.
David pulls over his mask...
He is a young teen age boy.
DAVID
Who the hell are you? Why you were
running from me.
The man tries to get him free from David’s hand.
MAN
We’re just playing, "hide and
seek".
DAVID
What?
MAN
Yeah.
David leaves him, gets up and moves slowly back to the
telephone booth. Dials a number...
EXT. IRVIN’S HOME - DAY
We see Carla pulls up her car outside Irvin’s home. She
comes out from her car and herds quickly toward the entrance
door.
Irvin bursts from the front door. We see his face looks
anxious.
IRVIN
You...? What’s the problem, Carla?
CARLA
(angrily)
What’s all that shit...?
11.
We pull back and are left with the wide angle shot of Irvin
and Carla, exchanging expressions of anger. We don’t hear
them.
INT.DAVID’S HOME, LIVING ROOM- NIGHT
David watches T.V, playing with the remote control.
Switching over to channels... He gets up, and moves into the
kitchen.
INT.KITCHEN
He opens up the refrigerator, grabs a juice.
Suddenly he hears a strange sound. He runs out of the
kitchen, leaving the juice behind on the table.
INT. LIVING ROOM
He slows down his pace, comes nearer to the entrance door.
The door lever slides down.... He watches it in some fear,
reaches for a golf stick and gets ready to attack. Takes his
position...
The door opens. MAC enters from the dark. We don’t see his
face yet. David smashes the stick on his shoulder, topples
him over. David comes down again on him beating up, but to
realize Mac at once,as the camera CU on him.
MAC
(shouts)
It’s me, Mac. Easy, David.
DAVID
I know it’s you.
MAC
Yeah man, me. Cool down, it’s ok.
David pulls him up with his hand.
DAVID
(anxiously)
What the hell are you doing here at
this time of night?
Both walk to sit on the sofa. David throws away the stick
onto the sofa.
12.
MAC
Surprise man! Isn’t it? I just got
out of the jail and thought to see
you.
DAVID
Why me?
MAC
We’re buddies. Aren’t we?
DAVID
You think so. I’ve heard listening
that you hate me?
MAC
(laughs)
Really! That’s correct but it’s
nothing profound.
Mac stands on his heel, picks up the golf stick and touches
it reverently.
DAVID
Profound? What does that mean?
Mac moves closer to David, holding the stick. He raises the
stick high in air and a gesture of his hand gives us a look
as if he is going to smash it on David’s head.
MAC
(angrily)
Those were college days when I hate
you because you were a golf
champion and I had never won
against you.
He throws away the stick on the wall in anger.
MAC (CONT’D)
Man you were great.
David smiles, goes into the kitchen. We stay at Mac, who
looks aimlessly across the room. David returns with a couple
pack of juices. Throws one over to Mac. Both start drinking
in sips.
MAC (CONT’D)
Why were you so afraid, when I
entered?
13.
DAVID
Ahhh, these are really bad days.
Something strange is happening to
me.
MAC
Strange?
DAVID
Yeah, I’m receiving a few calls.
Someone wants to...
(pauses)
MAC
What.... What someone...?
DAVID
(thinking)
Wait, what were you doing last
night out in my surroundings?
MAC
Me?
DAVID
Yeah, you.
MAC
I hadn’t been here.
DAVID
You were, Mac.
MAC
I think you’re terribly mistaken by
someone else.
DAVID
Come on! I saw you riding on your
car. I figured out you because of
your big mustaches.
Mac throws the juice packet away into the dustbin.
MAC
Wait, wait! I think, perhaps, we
have got a real misunderstanding
here. I hadn’t been to your home
since I went to the jail. This is
by God, for the first time I’ve
come to see you.
14.
DAVID
How dare you?
MAC
Come on! David.
DAVID
Who’s the fucking guy trying to
kill me then?
MAC
(astonished)
O! my God. Kill..., I can’t even
think of doing this piece of a
shit.
DAVID
(loudly)
But you were to jail being accused
of a murder. Weren’t you?
MAC
That wasn’t proved. You know it.
DAVID
I do know this and I do also know
that laws can easily be manipulated
in this country.
MAC
Whatsoever, I’m innocent and I
didn’t murder anyone.
DAVID
Then, how you got there?
Mac leans back on sofa, sighs.
MAC
Okay, I tell you but you have to
gotta believe in me, right?
DAVID
Right, go on.
Suddenly, from nowhere, we see a train of bullets being
fired. David helps himself to roll back on the sofa. Mac
gets hit and he falls down. The firing continues, piercing
walls from everywhere, breaking glasses, pots, a t.v
and the hanging pictures on the wall.
15.
The firing halts after a few moments. David comes running to
Mac. The blood gushes out of his head like a fast flowing
stream. David touches his body, that turns cold and his
breath goes out.
EXT. CITY ROADS - DAY
David’s car moves very fast on the city roads. The car
wiggles left and right. The camera shows a wide angle shot
of his car, hiding in the dust at the far end of the
highway.
EXT. IRVIN’S HOME - DAY
David’s car ceases to stop. He comes out and with quick
feet, he enters Irvin’s home.
INT. IRVIN’S HOME- DAY
David comes in, finds no one out there. Silence...
DAVID
(shouts)
Irvin...
David moves purringly around.
DAVID(CONT’D)
Irvin, you there...? Come out you
rascal. You just killed my friend.
A smashing sound out of some object being thrown, alerts
David. He reaches his .38 revolver. Suddenly the back door
wide opens and Irvin enters, holding his rifle.
David sees him coming, shoots on him. Irvin manages to get
away and hides behind a wall.
IRVIN (O.S)
David, you don’t have the
slightest of an idea of what’s
going on your back.
DAVID
You can’t put it away by spitting
out some fucking dumb words.
Irvin appears on the corner of the frame. David shoots at
him again. He helps himself to get out of the range.
16.
IRVIN (O.S)
Don’t mess up things, boy.
DAVID
Shut up! Come out, you scoundrel.
I’ll kill you.
IRVIN(O.S)
If you say so,okay, baby, I’m
coming right there.
David comes closer to the wall where Irvin hides but to his
astonishment he finds no one there.
Suddenly from his back , he hears a groaning voice.
IRVIN
Here, I’m.
David turns and shoots aimlessly at him. Irvin finds his
position and shoots back at him hitting on his arm. David
falls down. Blood runs down on his body. He looses his
weapon on the ground. Irvin comes closer, flares his rifle
at him.
IRVIN (CONT’D)
I’m not ordered to kill you,
otherwise you have been part of the
floor.
Carla appears from the corner of the frame, holding a gun.
CARLA
He’s right. I didn’t want you to be
killed.
DAVID
Carla, you?
CARLA
You know why I didn’t want him to
kill you because I’ll do it on my
own.
DAVID
(screams)
Why, Carla? What’s going on?
CARLA
You had been so rude to me in
college days. Remember, you didn’t
take me in your skating team.
17.
DAVID
So what’s the point Carla?
CARLA
Instead you picked up Mac and
ruined my career, that you knew, I
was so desperate to take.
DAVID
I picked up the best man to team.
It was a matter of death and life
for our college.
CARLA
But you loved me, David. You should
have picked me up.
DAVID
(screams)
For God’s sake! It was only a
sport, Carla.
IRVIN
To hell with that. You fucking
rascal. You helped to caught my
friend Sam, cheating in the final
college exams and he ends up in
joining a gang of killers. What you
think you’re a fucking macho?
DAVID
No, no Irvin, that wasn’t me.
IRVIN
Dammit! I saw you in the Dean’s
office that very day.
He comes running down on David and kicks him in his belly.
David screams...
Sam appears from the back, shouts. He holds on a long range
rifle. We still don’t see his face. He has covered up.
SAM
He is damn shit right. That wasn’t
him but that was his all time
beloved friend, Mac.
DAVID
Who the hell are you?
18.
SAM
The fucking guy wanted Sam to be
pissed-off from the college
elections. The rascal won it.
CARLA
I hated him.
SAM
The fucking guy didn’t stop here,
but intruded into Carla’s life too.
CARLA
He threatened to kill me.
DAVID
Why he wanted to kill you?
CARLA
Because he was such a shit heel...
IRVIN
Mac knew Carla was cheating on
David, so he threatened to kill
Carla and attempted in the fast
food restaurant because he never
wanted his friend to be cheated
like that way.
CARLA
That’s why he’s dead.
IRVIN
Sam killed him.
DAVID
What the fucking it has to do
anything with me?
CARLA
David, I hated you the day you
dropped me and I went on Irvin’s
side to take this revenge. Sam
joined us for this common cause.
SAM
You ain’t that dumb. You know David,
what a shit you’re? The whole plan
was yours and you used Mac since
your college days. Just ruined our
lives and our fucking careers. I’m
gonna kill you, son of a bitch.
19.
David struggles to reach his weapon. Sam shoots at him,
injuring his hand. Sam pulls off his mask. David screams...
DAVID
Sam, you...?
CARLA
Yes, that’s him.
Sam flares his gun at him.
SAM
Get ready!
CARLA
No, Sam. He’s my prey. It’s a next
best thing to putting a bullet
clear through his head. Let me
finish.
Carla points her automatic at him. Pulls the trigger...
We hear a staccato roar. Carla falls down with a squeal. Her
breath comes in gasps and eventually stops. BOSS appears
from behind Carla, holding his gun with a smoke billowing up
from the barrel.
David gets up in the mean time, runs to hit Irvin in his
belly ruthlessly, knocks him over.
Sam opens fire at Boss, who flings himself out of line.
David smacks a series of hard punches across Irvin’s
face, manages to hold on his gun, slams again across the face
with the butt, shattering his jawbone and ripping his mouth
apart, leaving him unconscience, gasping in pain.
Boss and Sam exchange a series of fire at each other. David
helps himself to get on the Boss side and joins him.
DAVID
Sam, don’t make it a shooting
match. I assure, you will go down
dead.
David opens the fire at Sam.
Sam gets one bullet clean through his head, blood gushes out
of his mouth and he lays dead.
DAVID
Thanks boss!
20.
BOSS
As soon as I received your call, I
started following you and and
thanks God you’re safe.
DAVID
Yah, a few wounds, but not much
significant.
Both pass by Carla’s dead body.
DAVID
You were such a softy, Carla.
BOSS
The plot was great. That’s why I
like intelligent people to work in
my office.
Both walk away laughing.
