Hope For Love “But James, it’s hard you know, to think all of this will change in a year.” “College doesn’t mean the end babe, it’s just new beginnings, let’s just think about that when the time comes, for now, let’s just have fun, k?” “Okay okay, I’ll try not to think ‘bout it, we just gotta get through this, I know we can” “Of course babe, of course” Tara and James have been dating for a solid two years. They are inseparable, but in a good way, I guess. These two lovebirds share the best type of relationship, though. They live their own lives and work each other in, but not too much, they don’t want to get sick of each other. It all makes sense to us, though, I mean, I’ve been watching these two together since day one, and they’re nothing but happy. I’m okay with that, I haven’t lost my best friend to a stupid guy or anything, I just, I don’t know, sometimes I wish it I could have that, they’re too, perfect, sometimes, you know? Life was so much easier when boys weren’t involved, or before you and Jason broke up Ginny, why couldn’t you just look passed his mistakes and see that you could be just like Tar’ and Jason. Why couldn’t you just deal with it? Well, focus, the waitress is going to ask you what you want, and you still need to talk to Tara about tomorrow’s game, and study History with James, so focus. “Hey Ginny, what’s up? What are you getting?!” “Tar’, you know I always order the same thing, I just lovveee the chicken salad! How ‘bout you?.” “Gosh silly, don’t you know I always get the mozzarella sticks and the onion rings!?” “Do you two know that you have this same exact discussion every single time we come here, I mean, I know this pizzeria is your favorite, but come on, every time?” James comments with a chuckle. “And you say that every single time babe, but we’ve done it for oohhhh since we can remember, probably 13 years, so you’re probably not going to get us to stop!” Tara loves to tease James, it’s very obvious. She always defends our childhood routine conversations and quotes. “Now now you two, that’s enough, let’s not get overly excited about this.” Geeze, I love teasing these two, it’s so easy to, and I love that they don’t mind. “Okay so James, the history test tomorrow, think it’ll be easy?” “Yeah, I mean honestly, didn’t Roche teach us exactly what we need to know? That’s usually how it goes” “Yeah, but sometimes I get worried, I don’t know, I’m sure we’ll be fine, as long as I don’t get too distracted about the game, right Tara? I can’t wait to play Westmont High!” “Me either Ginny, me either! It’s always the best game on our schedule, and home, at night, oh it’s gunna be grrreeattttttttt!” “UHHHOHHHH girls, Westmont High versus Alcott Regional, you knowwwww it’s gunna be intense, on the field, and IN, THE, STANNDDS!” “Yeah, and Tar’, just think of how many fans will come out on a Friday night!” Ginny chuckled at the thought of full stands and a game under the lights. All three of the teenagers laughed, all knowing that this was true. Every year, when Westmont High plays rivals Alcott Regional in field hockey, both their strongest fall sport, the fans get rowdy and rambunctious, causing chaos all over the two towns and on the sidelines of the game. The waitress brought these three their meals, James also got his regular. James and his football diets are insane; I don’t get how he does it. All that pasta, and steak, and then a side of French fries, and then salad? Man, I wish, I really do wish I could eat all that, but that would definitely kill me playing soccer, hey, at least he enjoys it. “Don’t worry girls, I’ll be there…” “Babe, you always are, no need to remind us…” “Well, you’re all excited; I wanted to be a part of ittt!” “Oh James, that’s cute, you gunna wear Tar’s away jersey again?” “You bet, she always does the same for me.” The three friends sit together and talk about how much fun they’ve had through the years and how much they are going to miss it when they go to college. I just realized I’m going to be leaving my two best friends for college next year; I can’t believe this is happening, it feels like just yesterday that we were all in third grade playing on the playground! “You guys, I can’t believe it’s gunna be over after this year, I don’t know if I’ll miss it or not, but I’m definitely going to miss you two” I shouldn’t think that far into the future, I gotta think about tomorrow’s game and that test, ahh that test! The next day, I woke up ready to roll; I studied for hours the night before to prepare for the test. I understood and knew I would be up all night anyway, because honestly, I was overly anxious to play in such an intense game. So, the game was played, and Alcott Regional defeated Westmont High 5-3. Everyone knew that this win was the ticket to a great weekend. The parties were announced immediately, and people were excited to go to them. I’ll only go for a little, I mean, a little can’t hurt, and I’ll see Tara and James at Lexie’s, it won’t be bad. “Hey Ginny! … Awesome game, even though I told you that like five million times already, you’re goals were amazing!” “Thanks Tara! You played some pretty awesome defense yourself today, I liked how well you controlled the field.” “Thanks bud, I was tryin’ real hard, I was so afraid to mess up.” “Alright, let’s go grab something to eat and we’ll mingle with everyone, James is out to eat with his family right?” “Yeah, he’ll be here in like a half hour, so let’s get something to eat and then I’ll call and see how close he is.” “Okay, I can’t wait to see what he says about the game! “Yeah, he took some pretty awesome notes about the way we played.” “Whoa, Tara, look at that guy, he’s gorgeous!” “He is, he is. Go talk to him go talk to him! You have the confidence, and you deserve to have fun with a cute boy like him!” “You think he’d talk to me? Honestly, do you? ‘Cause I dunno, I don’t know if he would.” “He will, just go!” “Okay okay, I’ll catch up with you in a few?” “Sounds good, knock him dead girl!” Oh my gosh I can’t believe I’m doing this, this kid isn’t going to talk to me, he’s probably not even my type, but wow, he looks so nice, ah okay okay calm down!. “Hey, ummm, er, how you doing?” Oh no, I sound so dumb! “Heeyy! I noticed you when you were talking to you’re friend over there, whatsup?” “Oh nothing, I’m a little tired, not gunna stick around long, you know” “Yeah, me either, I have a game tomorrow, but I’m hungry, I wanna get something to eat” “Oh yeah, I’m so hungry! I had a game today, we did sooo great!” “Oh what do you play?” “Field hockey, you?” “Soccer” Wow, a beautiful soccer player, and he’s nice, what more, honestly Ginny, think, sound smart, be nice, look cute! “So umm, what’s your name?” “OH, sorry! My name’s Ginny, how about you, what’s yours?” “My name’s Steven, it’s really nice to meet you..” “Oh you too! (hehe) thanks!” “So you, maybe, wanna go, um wanna go get something to eat? Like, at a diner or something? I don’t really wanna be at a party the night before a game” “YES!” Why Ginny, do you get so over excited, “yes, I’d love to” SCORE! This is so great, I can’t wait to tell Tara! “I just have to let my friend know I’m leaving so she doesn’t look for me.” “Okay, just meet me outside, did you drive here?” “Yeah, me and Tara came together but she’s waiting for her boyfriend.” “Alright, just meet me out there, and we’ll head over to the diner, I’ll be by my car, it’s the green mustang, you’ll see me and it” Steven chuckles, remembering how much he loves his car. “Sounds good, I’ll be right out.”……..where’s Tara, where is she?! AHH JAMES! There’s Tara!...”Tara, Steven, that’s his name, the boy, he wants to go to the diner, so I’ll call you later okay? HI JAMES! Sorry, I’m excited, I forgot to say hi, I’m glad you got here a little early.” “Okay, Ginny relax, and yes, call me later, and be careful!” “Yes, always, talk to you later!” Okay, green mustang and a beautiful boy, scan the crowd, THERE HE IS! “Hmmm Steven! I’m all set” “Good, I’m glad, ‘cause for some reason, I feel like this meal might be the start of something really incredible…” This could be the beginning that I have been waiting for since Jason and I broke up, this could be it. I hope this is it.
