Max's Adventure Cairo Malet
Once upon a time in Campsbourne St there lived a girl called Amy. She had a cat called Misty. One day Amy came home from school and found that Misty had had 4 kittens. She rang her mum at work and told her that Misty had had kittens. Then they had to decide what to call them. They decided to name one of the girls Jewel because she had green eyes. They called the other girl Jesse and called the boys Arthur and Max. Max was a black and white striped tiger cat and Arthur was black with a white chest, stomach, feet and nose. All four of them were very cute. Amy’s mum put an ad in the paper to see if anybody wanted to buy a cat. All the cats were sold in a week. Max was sold to a nice elderly couple. Max didn’t want to leave his family but he had to. When Max got to his new home he didn’t like it one bit. They treated him kindly but they treated him all wrong. They thought all cats were lazy so they wouldn’t let him play. He was expected to lie around all day. After two weeks, Max had had enough. He decided to run away. Max formulated a plan. He knew that every Monday they went shopping and left the window in the room Max was kept in open. He decided that as soon as they left he would jump through the window and find his way home. Since that day was Friday he had about three days to think about it because they didn’t go shopping until two ‘o’ clock. He also had a lot of time to think because he had to lie around so by lunchtime on Monday he had which way to go and everything else figured out. So, as soon as they left Max climbed onto the couch, jumped onto the windowsill, and leaped out. I’m free I’m free thought Max as he landed on the grass. On Friday, he had decided to go east because they went west to go to the house so it must be east to his house. On the way to his new home he had memorised the names of the streets as they drove by so he knew where to go. He trotted along happily stopping occasionally to read the street signs until he came face to face with a huge Dalmatian. The Dalmatian said,” I’m Indy, King of May Queen terrace and I love chasing cats so you better start runnin’,” and with that he tore after Max who quickly ran in a circle and then up a tree. Then Indy said,” You got lucky this time but next time you won’t be,” and with that, he ran off. Max waited about five minutes until he climbed down and set of for Howard St. After Howard St there was Princess lane then there was Canberra Ave and then was Campsbourne St. He started running and almost bashed into a tomcat on Princess Lane. They introduced themselves and the tomcat’s name was Thomas. They went through their family tree together and found they were cousins. They talked (meowed) and became great friends but finally Max said he had to go so Thomas walked him to 40 Campsbourne St and then they organised to meet in two days. Max walked to the door and started meowing until Amy came to the door and let him in. She yelled to her mum that Max was back too. Max was confused until he walked into the living room and found his brother and sisters. They talked (meowed) and they had all ran away from their new houses back. So Amy and her family had to keep all the kittens.
