Johnnie B. …. All Grown Up.
----------------------------------
Johnnie B. felt all grown up.
After sleeping without the night light for the first time, Johnnie B. thought he was big
enough to adventure life on his own.
“Now that I am all grown up, I can move on now.” Johnnie B. said to his Mom and
Dad.
“You are a big boy and I am soooooo proud of you.” His mom said kissing him
on his cheek.
“You’re a big boy now.” His Dad added.
Johnnie B. felt so good and proud that he is now a BIG BOY.
He thought, “I must start my new life to big boy hood.”
Johnnie B. dashed to his bedroom to pack his suite case.
“Hum,” said Johnnie B. “I will need to pack some clothes.”
He began searching through his drawer for clothes.
“Don’t need this” throwing a red shirt over his head
“Don’t need this” throwing a black shirt over his head
“Don’t need this” throwing a white shirt over his head.
“Tadaa, here we go my lucky blue shirt.” He ran and packed the blue shirt in the
suitcase.
Johnnie B. packed his lucky blue shirt, a pair of pants, two pairs of socks and some
Undies.
“Let’s see,” Johnnie B. thought standing around with his finger thumping his cheek.
“Food, I will need food, Duh.”
Johnnie B. skipped to the kitchen towards the pantry.
“I will need something to keep me strong and healthy,” Johnnie B. said.
He packed a can of spinach. He saw how strong and healthy Popeye was after eating a
can of spinach. “I want to be just like Popeye.” Said Johnnie B.
“One more thing…....water.” Johnnie B. packed one bottle of water.
“Now I am ready to begin my new life of being all grown up.
Johnnie B, with his suite case dragging on the floor walked to give his Mom and Dad
a good-bye hug and kiss.
“I will be okay, Mom….Dad… don’t worry about me…..I’m a big boy now.”
“Good-bye.” Mom said waving and giggling.
“Good-bye champ.” Dad said giggling too.
Johnnie B. hopped away, out the front door into a hot sunny day.
He marched along the front yard.
When he reached the end of the front yard he started huffing and puffing.
“Huff, huff, huff. It is very hot today. I must be thirsty.”
So he drank all the bottled water.
Johnnie B. gave one last look at the house and then he continued down the road.
He hoped……hoped…….hoped…….and hoped down the road.
“Grawl, Grawl, Grawl. Oh, boy,” Johnnie B. thought. “I must be hungry.”
Johnnie B. reached in his suite case for the can of spinach.
Johnnie B. looked at the can and was confused.
“How do you get the food out?” Johnnie B. thought.
He saw a rock in the grass along the road.
“I can use the rock, I will rock the food out and then I will have green smashed spinach.”
He picked up the rock,
“Smash….Smash, Bang….Bang.”
The can did not open.
His stomach made that noise again this time it started to ach. “Grawl, Grawl, Grawl.”
Johnnie B. tried again…..and again…...and again.
“Smash….Smash, Bang….Bang.”
Still the can did not open.
"Oh no, what must I do.” He thought.
“Grawl, Grawl, Grawl.” His stomach went again.
Johnnie B. began smelling something mighty good in the air.
It made his mouth water.
The smell was coming from Mom’s kitchen.
Johnnie B. looked at the can of unopened spinach and smelled the cooking food floating
in the air.
He quickly turned around, ran as fast as he could back down the road, through the front
yard.
Knock…Knock
Johnnie B.’s Dad opens the door. “How can I help you, sir.”
“I don’t want to grow up, Jonnie B. wants to come home now.”
“Come on in son, I knew you would come back. Mom is cooking your favorite,
chicken fingers.”
“Yea” Johnnie B. said with excitement.
"Johnnie B. wants to stay home, eat and play. I don’t want to grow up, yet!” Johnnie
Bee said to his Mom and Dad as he was eating his chicken fingers with ketchup.
