A Kind Of Dissertation - A Pessimistic (Perhaps Realistic) View On Aliens From Another Planet

Does life exist outside Earth? That intriguing
question has occupied the 'thinking' persons
minds for centuries, and in recent times has also
kept an army of scientists, writers and their like
in employment. For those who are interested,
there are often earnest hopes that it does.
Though there are many, especially some of those
believers and followers of supernatural
explanations and religious gods, where
confirmation could be bad news. ... What is
coupled with this, and even more intriguing, is if
such life forms do exist, are they of an advanced
nature and have progressed in civilised and
technically competent ways? Are they like us, the
present day humans? For our own safety it would
be better if they are not. Just imagine if they
have our kind of natures, instincts and
inclinations, and landed here on Earth - well, the
fact that they can arrive without our help most
likely means that they are much more advanced and
hell-bent on subjugation, with them taking over as
masters and suppressers of all things and
creatures here. Therefore their existence and
arrival here could really be bad news for
everyone. There are experts in related matters
who firmly believe that though life forms could
exist elsewhere in the universe, only here on
Earth have they developed in any way - the human
masters being the most intelligently advanced and
technically competent of all. The view of some of
them is that in fact we are freaks of nature,
perhaps an accident.
'The meek shall inherit the Earth' That is indeed
a wonderful and hopeful prophecy. Unfortunately,
not only does the opposite appear to be a fact of
life here on Earth, but is more than likely true
for those supposed civilisations that could exist
elsewhere in the universe. Evidence clearly
indicates that nature dictates that meekness is
not a major part of the evolutionary process,
indeed, the opposite to it is the main
prerequisite - it being an essential requirement
for survival of a great many living creatures,
notably where they eat others for food. If there
is an order of things regarding the development of
life, then it is clearly exemplified by the human
masters of Earth, who are generally ruthless,
greedy, manipulative, cruel and selfish, not only
regarding other creatures but notably with their
own kind - how else can they rule their world?
Therefore if any of these advanced creatures from
another planet ever land here, how can we expect
them to be not very much different to ourselves in
their attitudes and behaviour? ... But if by
some miracle they are of a somewhat meek
disposition, then they would be forced to
consider leaving as soon as possible, for what
they would witness of Earth life, especially the
human kind, could surely frighten them to death!
What I have written here is of course contentious
and open to ridicule in some quarters. It being
an attempt by this author to set forth his honest
views. That being so, I wish to emphasise that I
have not intended nor wished to discredit any
person’s beliefs and thoughts on such matters.
Many far more qualified persons have set forth
their views on matters raised here. But with so
many unknowns still awaiting qualified
explanations, I humbly suggest that at this stage
my opinions and guesses are as good as most
peoples’.
