Dear Mr. and Mrs. Smith, July,25th I am demanding the amount of $10,000 in cash. It should be in a brown paper bag in the old oak tree by the children’s playground on the Southside of central park by July 30th. I better receive this money by then or you will never see your daughter Niki again. “I will be there in a couple minutes mom…okaaaay, yes, I will be careful, love you to” “Bye” Click! I was walking home down 6th avenue I had been noticing a strange car following me ever since I left school, but this is New York nothing would happen, I was just being paranoid. But just then the car pulled up in front of me and a man in a ski mask got out and put his hand over my mouth and pulled me into the back of a dark van. I tried to scream but something was stopping me I kept trying but it just sounded muffled. Every thing around me started to come into view I was in the back of a van and the windows were tinted black so I couldn’t see outside. I was being kidnapped! I started screaming and I stood up in the back which was very wobbly then I saw the man who had pulled me into the van in the first place, he had a ski mask on he was staring at me with his pricing dark eyes. “Shut up!” he said with a booming voice I didn’t stop moving around I was banging on the walls and trying to make as much noise as I could. He had put a hanker chief around my mouth as a gag so I could not scream. He grabbed my arms with extreme force and tied them behind my back with a rope the he grabbed my legs and tied them together also. I was alone in the back of a dark van thinking about whether I would see my family ever again, my face started to feel hot and my vision was getting blurred, tears started running down my face and I could not stop crying. Suddenly we stopped moving and the back doors opened I could see that I was in a garage. The man with the ski mask on climbed in and untied my feet he pulled me up to my feet and walked me out of the car and into the house. Once I was inside the house he sat me down in a chair and took the handkerchief off of my mouth I felt like 100 pounds and been taken off of my face and I tried to scream but my mouth was so dry I couldn’t. The man in the ski mask came over, untied my hands and gave me a glass of water. “Get up” the man said “What?” my voice sounding scratchy “ Get up! we are going down stairs!” he yelled so loud I felt like my ears went numb He pulled me up to my feet and he grabbed me and dragged me down the stairs at the end of the stairs there was a single door he opened the door to a room that was very small, there was a twin bed in the corner a very small window at the top of the wall and a door leading to the bathroom. He through me onto the bed and before he could leave I yelled “Why are you doing this to me, what did I do wrong?!?” All I got in return was “were only in it for the money, kid, stay quiet and you will see your parents soon” What was that supposed to mean? I thought about what he had said, and then I realized he was ransoming me for money from parents! I suddenly felt extremely overwhelmed and tired, I found my self laying down on the bed and falling asleep. When I woke up it was still dark outside. I climbed up on my bed and started screaming and pounding on the window. “Help me! Help me, please someone help me!” The door swung open and the man in the ski mask came over to me so fast I thought he was flying. He pulled me down to the bed and took some rope and tied my arms and legs together. He put me in the corner of the room. I just sat there watching him pacing back and forth, back and forth then he just left the room right as the door shut closed I stated to move around and try to find a way to undo these ropes. I had just got an idea the bathroom door hinge was cut by something and there was a sharp edge on it I scrunched my way over every minute hurting my wrists I finally got there after what seemed like forever. I put my back against the wall and slowly started to get to my feet. I brought my hands close to the sharp edge sweat and tears running down my face. Rub up and down up and…snap! I was free I untied my legs. Now I had to find a way to escape “Vroom, vroom" a car was pulling out of the driveway! This was my chance, I could figure a way to get out of here. I looked around the room and I ran over to the bathroom and wedged the hinge out of the door so I could pick the lock of door leading to the stairs. Finally I got the hinge out and ran over to the door that is leading to the stairs, I stuck the sharp end of the hinge into the lock and twisted it a couple times. Click! It opened! I tip toed up the stairs incase there was still someone up stairs I got to the top but I was afraid to go one steep further. I did it there was no one there I ran to the front door and ran out to the yard ran to the neighbors “Knock, knock” I kept knocking and knocking, finally someone opened the door and the rest I just a blur, I got home safe with my parents though and the man who kidnapped me got arrested and sent to jail for life. One thing I knew is that my life would never be the same. this is my original work typed and thought up by me
