Lilian From The Mountains
Ivonne León Vonchyta

It was a spring morning, in the Andes, the birds were singing, the fresh air was blowing and the big sun was in the sky.
Lilian was already up, She was working in the fields with his son, Edwin, a seven years old boy.
They were taking the corn and the potatoes because one of that days, people from the congress visited that villages to bring the food
to the city to sell them.
Anne, the sister of Lilian, was in charge of giving the food to them, she was the only that didn't work, she thought she was the the boss there and that everyone had to listen to her
so she just did the nice part of the work.

It was late, and Edwin wasn't feeling good, so he went to his house and rest for a while, he was very tired.
Night came and Lilian went to see what happend to him, I think the boy was sick, he never do the comlete job.
Lilian enter home and yelled. I think I knew what had happened. She run to ask me if I had seen him and I told her not to worry
because I supossed his father took him for a walk. When I said that, Lilian told me that that was impossible because he hadn't a father.
I thought that he had been kidnaped, so both of us started to look for him.

We look for him for many hours, till I saw a spot near a village I hadn't seen before.
Lilian run to that spot, and it was Edwin, thank God.
He looked fine and happy. He told us that a man, took him there because he had medicines for him.
Lilian felt happy because he found him but concerned about that man.

Next day, the ones from the goverment came. There were so handsome and well dressed that I wanted to be with one of them actually.
Anne gave them the food and Lilian received the money. Edwin saw them and run to them. I was surprised with that reation of the boy.
The man saw Edwin and hug him, I didn't understand that.

Lilian was surprised too and asked the man if he knew Edwin, and the man agreed.
They started to talk and talk and I saw Lilian invited them to enter to the house. I felt jelous.
After that invitation, I went to her house and asked her who was that man, and she told me he was the congresis George Dayming. I told her he was very handsome
and she agreed with me.

The days passed and a car was waiting outside her house, I went to see what was happening.
I saw the congresist!!!. I couldn't beleive what I saw.
I was looking from my window, and I saw Lilian with some equipment. She and Edwin entered into the car
and run away. I was shocked.

After an hour, I went to her house to look for Anne. She was crying because, her sister was arrested by the goverment because the food was given in bad conditions
and the money was too much for that mount of food.
I couldn't beleive that!!, my best friend was arrested in the city.
and her house was empty and her things taken.

The years passed and a letter came by, It told me that Edwin was coming back but her mother don't.
I felt very sad.
When Edwin came, I told him to tell me all. He refused.

After a month, a surprised came, Lilian was married with a son and a girl.
I hugged her and congratulate her.

She told me that the congresist fall in love with her and marry her.
