Chapter 6
'Click click.' Chelsea woke up with a startled
jump the following day.
“Oh sorry, Angel. Did I wake you up? Didn’t mean
to,” Amberly said apologetically, standing next
to the duplicator machine, loading their guns.
She had her wife beaters and boxers on. Chelsea
wasn’t exactly sure if she was going to be able
to look at her the same like she did when she
first met her because of the night before.
“It’s okay,” and she rubbed her eyes, waking her
insides up. She looked down at herself,
underneath the blanket and noticed she was in her
boxers. Her sports bra was lying not to far from
her waist.
Amberly noticed her looking down at herself and
commented, “What a night, huh?” and she winked at
her.
She rested her head back down for a few seconds
and stretched. She yawned, “Tell me about it.”
“Hey, no going back to sleep. Raise and shine,
sunshine,” Amberly said with her back facing her
while she duplicated some more items.
Chelsea groaned, expressing her tiredness but
then looked around the room. She noticed Amberly
must had gone exploring while she was asleep
because now there was stuff in here that she knew
she didn’t see the night before. There were keys,
a map, a box, and other various objects. Also saw
that even though that the table in the metal
detector was still there, the table that had
blocked the closed door had moved back to its
original place. “How long have you been up?”
“Probably about an hour or thirty minutes.”
“Where’d you get all this stuff from?”
“Just went for a walk and found them,” Amberly
answered, her attention still focused on
duplicating stuff.
She got up and tugged her baggy cargo pants
overtop of her boxers. Then she recovered her bra
and snapped it on her. “What are you duplicating
over there?”
“Spares of things. You get a copy and I get a
copy,” she answered.
Chelsea snuck up behind her and wrapped her arms
around her, lovingly. “Muwahs,” she said as she
kissed her neck softly. “Good morning, by the
way.”
She spun around in her grip, to face her. “Good
morning,” and she smiled, her eyes changing into
a shade of emerald as she kissed her back but on
the lips. “We sure have a long day ahead of us,”
Amberly announced unenthusiastically. She stared
softly at her eyes, at one and then the other.
Then she noticed it, Chelsea’s left eye was a
dark chocolate color while her other one was a
golden tint like those of a cat’s.
She saw the sudden intense expression locked in
her eyebrows, “Uh . . . Is something wrong?”
At first, it was like Amberly hadn’t heard her
but then she answered. “I don’t recall your eyes
being different colored from each other last
night.”
“What do you mean?” She asked, not really
comprehending what she had said.
“Well this eye,” she pointed under her left eye,
“is brown but your other eye is a yellowish
color.”
“Hmm... I’ve never heard that before. I’ve only
been told to have eyes similar to those of a
tiger and an eagle.”
“They’re really interesting,” Amberly said,
nodding her head.
'So are yours,' but it didn’t come out. Instead,
Chelsea smiled and nodded back at her.
The duplicator beeped, confirming a copy of an
item was successfully restored. She peered over
her shoulder at the machine.
“Got you something,” Amberly told her.
“Huh?” Distracting herself and she repeated what
she had said. “Ooh, okay.”
Amberly reached for something on the table next
to her. She snatched it up then wrapped it around
Chelsea’s waist. “This can hold at least three
different weapons depending on their size and
various gun clips.”
“Cool, thanks,” and she looked down at the tool
belt she was wearing.
“Mmhmm.”
Amberly ducked to get to the box that was stacked
right under the table. She hauled it back towards
her and lifted the lid afterwards. Folded neatly
was a pile of army uniform; camouflage appeal.
She was prepared and already had a copy so that
they both had their own.
The box had the entire suit except the boots, a
cover, a PT shirt, a field jacket, pair of
trousers, a belt and brass. Chelsea knew what
they were from having to experience three high
school years with an elective course called ROTC.
She beamed with excitement because everything was
real unlike the cheap shit they were provided
with at her school. The trousers even had holes
in the calves area, knees area, and thighs area
from the owner before them.
“It was the best I could find that I thought
would fit us both. The closest to perfect that we
can get I guess,” Amberly said behind her, she
taken a step back so that she could see the stuff
she had discovered. Chelsea picked up an olive
green PT shirt and pulled it on over her
shoulders. It was a tad bit roomy but she didn’t
complain because she actually enjoyed that style
as apposed to tight clothing.
“No way, it’s 100% perfect just the way it is!”
She exclaimed, couldn’t wait to try it on.
“What do you mean?”
“You see those holes in the pants? Those are what
the army calls hidden pockets,” she explained
what she knew to her. “Here, let me show you.”
She unzipped her pants and pulled them off her.
Amberly handed her the trousers and took her
cargo pants out of her hands. Standing on one
leg, she stuck one leg into the leg sleeve and
then the other one in. She slid them up over her
knees; straighten out her back, started hopping
up and down to get them to her hips. With one
hand she kept the pants still by holding them by
the borderline, her other hand was buttoning them
up. She wouldn’t need the belt, they fit her
exactly but since it was just a habit of hers,
“Psst, can you give me the belt please?”
“Sure,” Amberly gathered up the belt and brass
for her. She waited a few seconds while Chelsea
tucked in her shirt.
“Thanks,” and she sat down on the table, slipping
the belt in the belt loops all around. She stood
up after she placed the shiny brass overtop of
the belt buckle; she did her best to position it
perfectly straight. “I don’t think I’m going to
be needing the cover,” Chelsea said as she slid
her arms into the field jacket.
“Cover?”
“Yeah, you know. This,” she pointed out the small
hat that was still packed away in the box.
“Oh okay, gotcha.”
“What am I going to do with my clothes?” She
looked at Amberly, wondering. “That’s actually my
favorite outfit that I own,” with an expression
that was similar to an anime sweat drop.
Amberly point a finger at the duffel bag,
briefcase and book bag that was in the far corner
over where they slept. “You can use one of those
if you like.” She had found the duffel bag and
book bag under the beds of the prisoners. The
briefcase was inside a flaming transport truck
that she had seen before running into Chelsea, so
she had taken a fire extinguisher to soak the low
burning fire.
“Oh, didn’t see it,” Chelsea nodded and walked
off in that direction. She folded her clothes,
unzipped the black, red & gray backpack, and
dropped her stuff in the back pouch. She zipped
it back up, sealing it.
“So yeah, you were going to show me something
about those hidden pockets?” Amberly reminded her.
“Ah yeah, sorry. Slipped my mind,” and she
returned to her. On the table, she found five
clips of ammo. She picked them up, “Now two of
these,” she stated, “should be able fit into the
hole on my outer left thigh,” and poked two clips
in easily. “This,” poking her finger into a hole
by her calf of her right leg, “should be able to
keep at least a few keys hidden, depending on
their sizes.”
“What about the hole by your knee?” Amberly asked.
“That’s probably the biggest hidden pocket,” she
declared, smiling. “Because it goes from there to
halfway down almost by my ankle. I can put a lot
of stuff there.” She placed the other clips
inside her two standard pockets.
While she was talking, she tried to save time and
get changed. She heard a crash behind her, and
looked back. Amberly had fallen over backwards on
her shoulders, trying to put her pair of trousers
on. She fell to her knees laughing but then she
regained her self-control, “What?” she had whined
below her.
