When Yor Best Friends Brothers Beautiful... Chp 3 Bee Duere Morris
My lady,” Parker bowed as he opened the passenger door to his crappy green car. I had never been inside, but honestly, I had never really daydreamed about him driving me around in this lump of junk. Naomi once told me it was such a terrible car, that when you were driving, you felt like you were going to throw up from motion sickness because it rocked like a boat.
I smiled meekly as I sat inside the monstrosity. As he shut the door and walked the driver’s side, I squirmed a little in the seat, unable to find a comfortable position.
When he sat down he looked at me and grinned, “Isn’t it luxurious?”
“Haha! Parker it’s a piece of crap!”
“Watch your mouth, Andy! This baby has given me two amazing years of easy riding and it’s definitely sensitive to insults, so if you are going to talk bad about my car, please, speak softly.”
“I’m terribly sorry, Parker. If I have one more bad thought about your ‘car’, I’ll keep it inside my head to avoid offending the machinery’s feelings.”
He turned the key and then looked at me, smiling widely, “Thank you. We both appreciate your sacrifice.” He turned around and backed out of his driveway, doing the sexy, one-handed back-up that will forever leave females mystified. I mean, who could imagine that an act as simple as backing a car out of a driveway could be so attractive? Maybe it’s because I have a thing for forearms…something I can definitely check off on Parker’s list of physical perfections.
“What are you thinking so intently about?” He looked at me, scrunching his eyebrows together.
“Oh, it’s nothing. I was just—”
“Were you thinking about Tyler?” He kept looking at me with an intense gaze. His question completely threw me off…but maybe I should say yes to avoid the embarrassment of admitting I was thinking about his toned forearms.
“Yeah, it’s just hard, you know? I never like feeling insecure, and being cheated on is certainly something that will make you feel that way. I guess the worst part is that I never saw it coming.” I can’t believe I just said that.
“No one did, Andy. I actually knew you guys broke up before you told me in the kitchen. I heard about it in the locker room, how he cheated on you with Sam. If it makes you feel any better, according to Tyler, she was a horrible kisser.”
I laughed a little, “I could have told him that before he did it. She’s such a whore.”
“Yeah but Andy, the thing is, you shouldn’t have to tell him that. When you’re with a guy, he should only be able to think about what it’s like to be with you.”
What he said surprised me a little. Parker always knows what to say, but I’ve never seen this soft side before. I didn’t know how to respond. “Thanks, Parker…I don’t really know what to say.”
“Don’t worry, Andy, I make a lot of girls feel that way.” His serious expression became playful as he parked the car and got out. I wished I could come back with something witty, but I’m sure he was telling the truth. Parker is ridiculously beautiful.
I opened my door to have it shoved right back in my face. “Parker what the hell are you—?”
“Andy, every girl needs a gentleman. Let me demonstrate for you gentlemanly behavior.”
“Right, and shoving the door in my face is the best way to show me. You’re off to a great start, Parker.”
“Sarcasm isn’t a desirable quality in a lady, Andy.”
“Sorry, I guess I’ll have to stoop to being undesirable.”
“You could never be undesirable,” he said, lowering his voice to a level that could only be described as accidental honesty.
While I paused for a second to digest the fact that Parker just called me desirable, the expression on his face twisted from a smile to a near frown. I guess he felt as if he’d crossed the line (oh that wretched line that keeps humans from behaving as they’d like to!). Wow, I guess this was our first official awkward moment. My mind was searching frantically for something to say. Surely some organization of the right words would fix this spanned moment of uncomfortable silence.
“Well, Parker, maybe I should sleep farther away from your room tonight. I wouldn’t want to tempt you.” I patted his shoulder and smiled as he continued to stand still, holding the car door open. Stepping up onto the sidewalk in front of the glass whataburger door, I turned back to him, “Parker, you want to demonstrate more gentlemanly behavior and open this door for me?”
He shut the door, and walked toward me coolly, “Gladly, mademoiselle.”
“That was a horrible French accent.”
“Just wait till you hear my Spanish,” he smiled, pulling open the door and staring straight into my eyes as I walked through. I wanted to laugh but all I could do was smile while trying to tell my heart to beat a little slower.
We walked over to the counter and stared up at the menu.
He turned to me, “Do you know what you want?”
“Yeah, can I have two number ones and a number four?”
He stared at me for a second and then let out a burst of laughter. “Andy, are you serious?”
“Well the two number ones are for me, but knowing Naomi she’ll be craving some chicken in about an hour so I figure there’s no harm in going back to your house prepared.”
He smiled at me a second longer before turning back to the cashier. “Can we have two number ones, a number two, and two number fours?” The short woman looked suspiciously between the two of us, and then handed us five cups. Parker paid while I went to get two root beers. He stood next to me and filled up two teas and lemonade for Naomi. “You know, I’ve never met a girl who can eat as much as me.”
“Well Parker, today’s your lucky day,” I smiled up at him.
“Obviously,” he choked out, sipping one of his teas. “Lead the way, my lady,” he nodded his head toward the tables while holding our food and trying to pick up three full cups. I took the food out of his hands so he could carry everything to the table. “Oh, I like assertiveness in women,” he made a fake growling noise while baring his teeth.
Trying to keep my thoughts clean, I just shrugged and turned my back on him, walking toward a booth in the corner. I stopped before sitting down, and then looked at him following behind me. When he reached the table, I scrunched my nose and looked from the table and back to him. “It looks a little dirty.”
“You have been in a fast food restaurant before haven’t you?”
“Yes, but this one seems particularly dirty, and so do all the tables around it.”
He looked around the restaurant, and then back at our table. “Andy, I do believe you are on to something. Each table in this restaurant is potentially thoroughly disgusting.”
We both laughed, and then he stopped, quickly turning to me like he had an epiphany. “A stroke of brilliance has just run through my mind.”
I looked into his excited eyes and cocked my head, smiling, “Oh really? Please share, Parker. I’m dying to know what you consider brilliance.”
With a big smile on his face, he nodded toward the door, and looking unbelievably cute he said, “Let’s go.”
I hope you guys liked this one!
