The War Within Arthur Henry Isaacson
Imagine for a moment, please
A life begins, within
Contemplate the future, look
At choices stark and grim
Tear your mind to pieces as
You play at being God
Keep a lonely vigil
As you fight yourself so hard
Find not joy returning
When at last you’ve made your peace
Your world will change forever
Once this life, you have released
Journey through the dark with me
Feel your insides tear
Know the hell of life expelled
Come live within my fear
Scream into the soundless night
To drown the pain that grows
Soon you will be less than one
With emptiness bestowed
Watch a soul twist and writhe
Cleave to it desperately
Agony is yours alone
A mother, once to be
No man alive can know this flame
That burns and chars within
A stranger without knowledge
On the outside, looking in
Not intellect or reason
Can bring the father in
Or still the madness eating me
For destroying my own kin
Choice I wanted, Choice I got
On me the verdict rests
Part of me I now destroy
And have forever, to digest
