Lest We Forget R Duncan
''Lest We Forget''
I looked out over the meadow
it was a sea of red
the colour of the poppy
the blood flow from our dead
I asked why this had to happen
why so many young men lost
I asked what was the reason
for them to pay this cost
I was told it was for freedom
these young men gave their lives
I was told it was to protect their families
their children and their wives
they died in the face of fire
they didn't turn and run
so we will remember them in the morning
till the setting of the sun
