Come Buy A Poppy
R Duncan

Come Buy A Poppy.

He stands on the corner, alone in the rain
People walk past,they think He's a pain
He thinks back over the years, of the friends that he lost
Who fought in the rain, and the mud at a cost.
He stands there alone, with a tear in his eye
Those friends who have gone, and did not say goodbye
They didn’t have time, to say a guid fond farewell
The bullet hit the target, and the brave soldier fell.
He stands there ignored, with the can in his hand
Feeling sadness for those, He left in that land
Stranger’s see an old man, standing alone feeling soppy
Why won’t they remember the reason, and come buy a poppy.
