Angels With A Light
Rikki Duncan

The bang I heard was the first I knew
That the world had suddenly changed
The building shook, the towers two
Oh yes the world had changed

The next thing was the darkness
It came upon us, oh so quick
Then smoke filled air surrounded us
It was so black, it was so thick

At that present moment
It seemed all hope was gone
As screaming voices filled the air
Then we began to run.

Then a voice above the panic
A voice of calmness pure
Saying, Lord Jesus come now
Lead us to the door

Suddenly there were angels
With flashlights in their hands
They moved and bid us follow
They had a rescue planned

As they led us through the blackness
As death hung in the air
I heard a woman whisper
Lord I know you’re there

I know you sent these angels
Dressed in fireman’s uniforms
To lead us out to safety
To lead us out of harm

As the darkness cleared around us
 And they daylight filtered through
We stumbled from the building
To safety and life, we few

But as we went to thank our saviours
For bringing us all clear
We look around to take their hands
But they were nowhere near

The three of them had vanished
So today I give a toast
Here to our angels with a light
Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
