DESCRIPTION
A look at a heart darkened by depression and dishonesty, Skarlett Bracelets represents a piece of time during which a lady cannot see hope. Yet. [94 words]
ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Lieeda is an eclectic artist whose work varies among writing, photography, spell constructing, and herbalism. She is a Strega by soul, an existentialist by brain, an earth worshipper by nature. [November 2001]
She once believed he loved her
And she believed she loved him
So happily ever after they lived
Until that year when bitter winter killed it.
Being only the need to punish
The love that never was
Rotted out.
She knew that it was over
But would not let go
"I belong here," she said
As she sliced and bled her scarlet bracelets
No one sat with the corpse
Long empty hours turned to long empty years
Refusing belief; Ignoring her fears
Till the stench overcame and she wanted out.
By then she didn't know how to go.
She had carried on too long--lonely, hurting
And bleeding her beautiful scarlet bracelets

"This poem captures perfectly the way emotions can warp our thoughts and actions. I think it shows how a state of mind can begin to feel like home, no matter how broken of a home it is. It is a great piece, by an obviously talented woman." -- Joe Mc, Chickasaw, AL, USA.
"This is a provocative look at what seems to be a very traumatizing circumstance. It captures extremlely complex emotions. . .put torment in poetic form, if that is possible. I must confess that the spelling of the title bothers me." -- Heather, Huntsville, AL, USA.
