We Will Rise Again

As the Star Spangled banner
Flutters gently in the breeze
As the smoke filters skywards
As we get down on our knees
We pray for strength in our weakness
We ask for guidance from above
As we recover from our numbness
Our pains replaced with love
As we clear away our grieving
In the presence of our Lord
To the very depth of our being
In the comfort of his word
As the peace of God now fills
The space left in our hearts
We know we shall recover
As the healing process starts
Like the phoenix rising from the ashes
New York women, New York men
Will not lie down defeated
We will rise again
We are a united people
United throughout this land
Our faith and hope won’t weaken
If on the rock we stand
Jesus is the answer
He is our saving grace
He will bring us through together
And with strength, our troubles face.
