With Those Tear Filled Eyes Rikki Duncan
Father forgive them
Was your gasping cry
As your pained eyes stared,
Searching, into the sky.
Why have you forsaken me?
You were heard to say
Yet, with the sinner nailed next to you
You’d comfort and pray.
With those tear filled eyes
A heart full of love, full of care
All my sins and my illness
On the cross, you would bare.
As the tears and the blood
Flowed mingling down
The face of Gods son
Topped by that thorny crown.
The pain and the anguish
Were there, for all to see
This was the price paid
That we would be free.
Please don’t let that gift
From the cross go to waste
Turn round now to Jesus
Receive forgiveness and grace.
Listen, Oh! listen
To his words from the tree
You are already forgiven
As he, has forgiven me.
So open your heart
Let him enter in
The Lord who will wash you
And cleanse you of sin.
