A young woman is brutally attacked by 5 men and was almost sexually assaulted when an off duty officer came and saved her life. But since that night she is unsure of her life and who she is and everything in it. She cannot yet process correctly what happened. It also wreaks havoc on her body.

I am a happily married mother of two beautiful intelligent children who is focusing on writing lyrical poetry to compose a book that inspires readers to overcome any circumstance in their life. I have a criminal justice education and 9 years experience in the field. I am a voluntary life coach to youth and addicts with mental illness and am currently pursuing that degree to become a professional in the field.

Bound in these heavy chains
Feeling these aches and pains
Indecisive, making turns and switching lanes
Switching gears to entertain
Thankful to have the brains
To withstand the heaviness of these rains
Drugs and alcohol she abstains
Preventing blackouts and blood stains
Never again in restraints
Without consideration to her daily strains
They call her insane
With more losses than gains
Emotions she can no longer contain
Out comes words profane
Mouth dripping with disdain
Because anger and profanity she cannot refrain
The past calls her out time and again
Fighting also in spiritual planes
Rage she constrains
Slowly contentment she regains
Patience she obtains
Day to day she sustains
Sanity she maintains
Anything that may pertain
To success, she cannot ascertain
Rarely will you hear her complain
She pleads peace in her domain
Avoidance is easy to appertain
Avoiding that which causes migraines
Poisons run through her veins
As the doctor explains
Sickness spreads to cellular membranes
The word she retains
Strong in faith she remains
Even in the eye of the hurricane
Beaten by default
Nothing of that night to exalt
Because happiness came to a halt
As she lay beaten on the asphalt
By 5 guys, a vicious assault
She takes it with a grain of salt
After all it wasn’t her fault
These feelings have been locked in a vault.
