I am a happily married mother of two beautiful intelligent children who is focusing on writing lyrical poetry to compose a book that inspires readers to overcome any circumstance in their life. I have a criminal justice education and 9 years experience in the field. I am a voluntary life coach to youth and addicts with mental illness and am currently pursuing that degree to become a professional in the field.

Who Is Who To You?
Diana Angela Chang
When I think of the word friend
I think collecting them is an overrated trend
Most people have more than one
But do they add up to the same ton
As the one who is true
Dedicated to the people, not a crew
So can you name a few?
Let’s take a deeper look
Because some people are a closed book
Now subtract those who are a crook
You may not see them at first look
A real friend does not lie, plot and steal
And real is keeping it real
All those who don’t have your best interest at heart
They too can depart
What of the ones who use you
And never seem to give or follow through
What about all the lame
Those who lack care and bring shame
A select few who are dimming your flame
Some with wanton disregard and complete malice
Come over anytime and disrespect your palace
Do they respect your wishes?
Pitch in, clean, do some dishes?
Minus all those people from thought
All the lame, guilty and caught
Make a mental graveyard
For them that did not meet the standard
Those guilty of you being slandered
Now let’s dig a little deep
See which souls to keep
Which are lamb, which are wolves, which are sheep
Go ahead and ponder, take that leap
What defines a friend?
One that’ll see you through to the end
The one that will bend
Your problems they’ll want to mend
A friend is always encouraging
Smiling, helping, cheerleading
They will help you stand tall
Before, during, and after each and every fall
Whether it is something big or something small
They’ll move that mountain if that is your wall
And no matter the time will answer the call
Even when you make a mistake
They got your back so you can take a break
They’ll care about your comfort and protection
And won’t expect perfection
They carry a positive reflection
Because love is the foundational conception
A good friend comes with open and honest communication
Around them laughter is the best medication
Everything comes with personal accommodation
You can credit them for participation
And their absence comes with validation
Because excuses are not in correlation
And their help comes with no limitation
Peace be it their meditation
And their mantra reciprocation
They will always promote your smile
And their presence feels worthwhile
They’ll be at your side through the trial
Will hold your hand through a crooked mile
They’ll support your religion and spirituality
Respect your choices and individuality
They will love you without principality
Now who is left? What’s the reality?
Is there at least one
After all is said and done?
If so you are blessed
That’s all you need, forget the rest.
