Lonely Bird Misganaw Chekole
The bird hides in his nest
a spider’s web of loneliness
The silky fragrance a cloud
of remorse
He wonders why
he different from the other birds
He is afraid to look deep within
seeing nothing but pain
As time fades along with his lonely heart
He cries for his mother
but she is nowhere to found
His terrifying emptiness haunting his every thought
Only God can save him
he looks at its reflection in the murky waters
And sees a whisper of words and courage
from the Divine
To stand up for himself
and not be bullied by the other birds.
He is feeling his strength return
The shallow worm infested mud on the ground
Evaporating into a pool of clear water.
He is loved he is wanted.
By Nature itself.
