My Redeemer
Kelly McManis

Why have I never seen before
A sun that shines this bright?

Why have I never known before
This peace I feel at night?

For so many years
The days were gray,
And the nights as black as coal
With an agony
That loomed inside,
Torturing my heart and soul.

There was something missing,
Or something lost,
Something that made me incomplete.
And with each new day,
That emptiness
Festered lies and evil deceit.

But You never fled,
Always by my side,
And one day I felt You there,
Asking if You would still walk with me,
In a silent moment of prayer.

Since that day,
The gray is gone,
And for what was missing from my soul
I no longer feel the need to search,
For, through You,
I now am whole.
