Sunset Beyond The River

THE SUNSET BEYOND THE RIVER
The other day the Sun was just beyond the river,
Arrayed in scarlet red and yellow bands.
I longed to touch him with my own hands.
It was only the river, the valley of death,
Stood between us as the huge barricade.
The river still and calm was now covered by a dark shades of fear and death.
The only hope was to wait for the morrow,
For I know for certain that he will be rising tomorrow in a deep red glow.
