Life On The Vine
Branson Storm

Am I running away
or is it something I’m chasing?
Is it fear beneath my feet or
bravery in my stride?
Am I moving at all?

Uncertainty is pouring down upon me,
a squall great with gusts from all four corners.

My questions cannot be quantified
for painfully, the answers must evolve through me.

Yet I have found some certainty in my place of now
and I know the fruit it bares.
A fruit so close to ripe
stretching out to the day’s last trace of dawn,
slung between the seasons,
holding out for morning’s warmth.

I wait.
I wonder.
I cry.
I ponder.

But the dawn seems years away
and what has bloomed is a life without color.
In the stillness I ask,
“What am I now?”

And in the coming movement,
for it will come,
“What will I be then?”
