Denial R Bennett Okerstrom
As I slip my arm around your waist,
The sweat pours down your inviting neck.
The music fills the smokey air,
With beats to grind against each other.
Your eyes are hiding your thoughts, your desire,
To have what you fear is too risque.
Your hair is drenched,
Falling in your eyes.
The eyes that keep it well within.
Your lips that call my name in vain,
Stop sudden with guilt for false pretension.
To love eachother, it is forbidden,
By rules that none of us rely.
Tis more of fear than anything,
That separates us across the miles.
I find you exotic, too good to be true.
Your smile, your thoughts, your blessed drive.
You come and go throughout my dreams,
You never, ever stay a while.
Too scared to tell you how I feel,
I write and think and dream and smile,
About the time we shared that night,
About the kiss that meant so much,
About the glass I filled for you.
About the walk, the laughs, the lies.
My thoughts of you they will not fade.
They live and breathe without despair.
For miles between will separate,
Two souls that ache while they're apart.
Our lives sodden with pain and hope,
Must find each other before we disintegrate from useless love,
And make mistakes we shouldn't make.
