Masks M Q Walters
Sweet words whispered in vain,
And what we do to hide the pain.
This mask I wear is but mine,
How dare I to think I could cross that line.
I lift my face into the rain,
Hoping it will wash away this pain.
And as the heaven clears,
I only hope it has hidden the tears.
I stand here in my confusion,
Trying to seperate reality from illusion.
Knowing I have become lost,
And so great has become the cost.
Dreams lie upon the ground shattered,
As I wonder to whom it even mattered.
Who knows about tomorrow,
And who cares about the sorrow?
And who knew it would be this way,
Are there no words yet to say?
As the darkness reaches out to take me,
I know it was only I who did forsake me.
Why do we search to see behind the mask,
And who gives us the right to even ask?
Masks are worn but to hide
The pains that live inside.
