ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I'm thirty nine, recently single again. I have two boys Cli' (pronounced clee) Real name Christopher and Mark. I'm a care in the community nurse and formerly (when I was married) an occupational Therapist working with the mentally ill on a secure unit. I love reading and writing and meeting people. I hate offal, seafood and intolerance. I keep dog, cat, polecats, rats and reptiles. And for seven years ran the second largest reptile sanctuary in Britain. Apart from having my lads, I think that's probably the most worthwhile thing I've ever done. Writing wise, I've been the main fiction writer for Legends magazine for three years. And have two books published 'Lizard's Leap' published by Quillusers, and 'Better the Devil You Know' soon to be released by Bestbooks.Um I drive a knackered old Astra, and ride a two litre trike. I live in the lake district of England, and am happy. :-)

Outrun The River
Sue (Sooz) Simpson

The six-team strain at harness, glacial eyes, electric blue
Runners glide, snow crumbles, waxed and polished through
Beyond the snow so clean, intact, beyond she is not taken
Don’t look back, never look back at vista now forsaken

Husky driver worried, not much time, left too late
Seven lives in frost-bitten hands. Is death their song of fate?
Dogs are growing weary, shoulder depth, spirit gone
Man winces at eight-echoed whip cracks must keep moving on

His nemesis is mocking, she morphs before his gaze
The sun turns into hourglass, molten grains ablaze
Each trickling grain is snow not sand, snow the sun will blanche
An ice-cap tear dislodges and aspires to be an avalanche

The movements now are leaden, winding down to drivers ‘mush’
Sled becoming waterlogged laboured jerks through dirty slush
He looks behind him one last time, a sight that strikes him frozen mute
The land becomes a river. Terror firmer ice-rafts in cold, cold pursuit

"Wow, you do so much work Sooz, may I call you Sooz? Hi I'm Patina author of Steel Princess, I was wondering if you'd be interested in a critique trade-off, you know a review for a review. I thought that I'd show my good nature by going first, and you don't have to return the favor, but i'm really hoping that you will. OK so bye bye now! Review: First off I don't know what a "seld of dogs" is. I'm sure it must be important to you though. Hee hee hee! Second “laboured” should be labored. And third what is "terror firmer ice-rafts"?" -- Patina Williams.
"Sooz ... guess Patina doesn't know you're a Brit !!! Hence the "laboured"-"labored", thing !! (:o) I found this quite good and will continue to read your offerings ...
