ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Who me? Born in 1962. Wrote prolifically as a teenager, heavily influenced by books & the music of the time. Stopped writing for 20 years more or less. But started again... Some of the work here dates from the "early period" - 1979-1982. The rest is since 2000. I`ve no idea whether I`m a better writer now or then. Maybe I was never any good! I`ve always wondered. Feedback most welcome...
I've not visited this site at all since January 2006 as I shortly after discovered the unfettred joys of blogging. I'm still writing and actually had a very good summer of writing. I'm posting a recent poem here now but all my recent work is available on my blog - take a look - http://peter-rivendell-poems.blogspot.com/
[December 2006]

When Winter Comes Peter Rivendell
The sky is falling into rain
Overhead a distant plane
At the grimetime of the day
Loyal friends fall to decay
Martial thoughts
And telephone calls
Scattered moments by default
And I find I walk away
Nighttime saddens with its stars
Mournful drone of distant cars
Leaves erupt as days go by
Our only thought is side by side
Erotic thoughts
And frozen hearts
Refrigeration stops and starts
Sporting masks the moment`s cry
Society games of another sort
Coming in last with gales of talk
Running calmly through the rain
Depression flattened by the pain
Nostalgic thoughts
And drowning cries
Running for taxis under lonely skies
Stuck in wet clothes awaiting trains
The smell of rotting seasons grows
Flowers fall and a cold wind blows
Setting fire to a distant town
Twenty years are burning down
Quick-eyed thoughts
And rain-filled eyes
Receiver swings with no replies
Face to the rain and I wait to drown
As spring stops and starts to laugh
And summer turns and runs
Autumn calls us all to chant
Tell them I`ll be back when winter comes
