Waves Within Mia Angello
WAVES WITHIN
It could be cobalt, royal, ocean or even turquoise.
As deep as I can remember or wish to face
As far away as another breath will take
A timeless pause strikes a beat.
As a flood drowns everything in its path,
I loose the exact shade I had in mind.
UNTITLED
My sadness waits no longer.
It rains infinite through time, soul, and space.
There is no magic logic to numb it away.
Even the sun cannot dry the saturation of its depths--
cascading between layers and layers of broken glass.
To some it appears as art-- a play of light reflecting through salty waves.
I once thought this light was truth; now it blinds me to all but the shards piercing my soul,
my spirit, my existence...
as I recall the flavors of pain.
UNTITLED 2
I am feeling sublinear, subzero below sublime.
I am feeling without feeling, aware of void and numb to time.
'Swallowed by the dark and narrow, 'engulfed by words that tend to rhyme.
'Cursed by thoughts surreal yet sound; 'plagued by dreads of what's ahead;
'Crushed by inconsistent rhythms and shreds of could-have beens.
'Warped by wants of what cannot be; carved with pleasure undeserved.
'Swallowed lies tasting of truth, and subconscious refuse served.
'Marked by tracks of dissertion, ancestrial dismay; organized deconstruction, disorder, disarray.
Passing thoughts that recycle from the night to the next day.
Wanted endings to this misery, unsolicited, by the way.
CONTRACT
Let me be a restless corpse dragging off a nowhere train.
My screams unheard from sleepless dreams, tangled tunnels--blinding pain.
Darkness fill my waking hours--spill the spirit from my veins.
Along the tracks my blood runs cold; what once was sacred now is sold.
LIFEGAURD
I drift on waves in a black-hole tide pool, tangled in the sludge of my past.
Strong, swift strokes prove meaningless amongst the consequences of choices made.
The sands of nearby continents hold toxic blame and shame of generations before me.
I choose to tread carefully until I tire and drown.
DISINTEGRATE
Disintegrate my love.
You are crushing each rib of life from me.
Disintegrate my love.
You lie useless along the highway--an unfinished supersized coke, no one ever expected to finish.
Disintegrate my love.
Your desire flames my dreams; hopes curl and burn to ashy nightmares.
Disintegrate my love.
You hunger for more when all that's left are the seeds of my spiritual core.
Disintegrate my love.
You are squeezing the last breath out of any reason to live.
DEATHWISH
Floating until i can sink into the waves of the deep, blue sky--
My blood painted across the sunset, I follow a road askew from
life and void of
understanding God's plan...
biding my eternal beginning of this end.
3/17/01
I need you out of my heart and head; I cannot bear however you see me.
When your eyes touch mine, their fire ignites a flame within my soul.
I turn away to avoid third degree burns to my boundaries.
You seem to enjoy the wait for spontaneous combustion.
I cannot stand the pain it costs to love you.
I cannot take the screams of your silent rejection.
I cannot fight the spells you cast on my thoughts and dreams.
Your intuition mocks my fantasies, while my love saws through your safe cage
of detachment. It threatens to revive your brokeness.
RSVP DENIED
I waited...why did I bother?
I waited...you didn't care even enough to call.
I waited...you took the easy way out.
You were misinformed. I was your easy way in.
While you trek your solo course to anywhere but here,
I'll unsubscribe to my dreams of us together, to lighten your load.
LINES BETWEEN
What would I do without youi?
I already know what I'd do with you, if allowed.
Without you there'd be no poems of anger, pain and sorrow.
Without you, there'd be no dreams of love I'd want to follow.
WIthout you, there'd be no more fucking with my heart.
Without you, there'd be no ending before the start.
Without you, I couldn't feel so ripped and torn apart.
WIthout you, I'd be no longer raped of dignity, hope and joy.
Without you, I'd be loving a man, instead of a little boy.
LIFE
Life is messy;
It basically sucks.
It is a mucky mess.
There's excess wherever there's abundance
and emptiness wherever abundance was expected.
Anywhere you step, there's an unmarked land mine to land you on your ass
and onto another land mine.
Your soul is shredded beyond regcognition.
It's pieces become your life--a messy, wet collage of blessings and curses,
that never dries to become art.
SOLITUDE
She spent her newly gifted solitude at her mind's shoreline
retrieving fragments of her life--the worn-smooth, slowly-polished, cold-wet stones
that would come to fill her soul-holes.
She took in the salty waves 'til they quenched her thirst for tears.
The waves tossed the stones, bruising her consciousness and pulling her dreams
into the undertow.
She made one last impression that she knew wouldn't last...
a sandy good-bye to all who'd walk the same shore.
As the salty waves filled her, they erased any trace of where she had been,
where she was, or where she would go.
