Paint My World Paula Poland
Dali, paint my world...
Show me curled up tightly,
rolled up in a little ball like a pil bug
seemingly shrinking
within a steel box.
All of the color has been drained from me.
Vincent, paint my world...
In your pain and desperation
you cut off your ear.
Show me limbless,
the knife at my side,
the blood a dull gray.
The knife is dull.
Andy, paint my world...
Soup cans become needles,
each one raining from a leaden sky.
They are filled with icy words
that penetrate my very soul.
Monet, paint my world...
Show me within a walled garden,
all of the flowers within are dead or dying.
Be cruel
and put all of the colors beyond me
on the other side of the wall.
