Standing On The Edge Of Depression R Bennett Okerstrom
Standing on the edge of depression,
Engulfed in languor, I ponder over
This lassitude that I cannot defeat.
Slowly gnawing away,
Filling me with worthless inanity.
A feeling that is so far from discrete.
Seclusion from the world outside
Not nearly as prudent as confronting
The obstacles that block my very path.
Holding me captive,
Filling me with constant torment.
Daring me to unleash my inner wrath.
During inauspicious times
I’ve gathered my demons together,
Hid them from the world all so very well.
Suppressing the notion of failure,
Filling me with total anguish yet
Constantly forcing me never to dwell.
This time it’s no different,
Alas, it’s the same.
The storm’s here to weather,
To test me again.
I’ll fight through the despondence
To hell with the game.
Throw everything at them
My life I’ll reclaim.
And when it’s all over,
The smoke will be cleared.
I’ll rise up above them.
Again be inhered.
Ending this chapter,
Remaining revered.
Reinforcing the fact,
That I should be feared.
