DESCRIPTION
This is a poem about darkness and losing the light. It's kind of gothic I suppose. I have a liking for gothic. S'fun. It's a vampire poem. [173 words]
ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
(Call Me Pet.) Well I am.... me. No two ways about it, I am me, me I am. Not so old but nothing new, a little borrowed, sometimes blue. Just a person, slightly crazy, thoughtful, deep and rather lazy. Eccentric, timid, and fixated; feedback on this is awaited. [March 2000]
AUTHOR'S OTHER TITLES (3) I Ask For Your Forgiveness (Poetry) This is another of my "vampire" collection which as you may have noticed is my preferred genre. Y? Z. Y? Because I gotta! The others you see below are part of that collection. But they are not col... [159 words] Lunatic Prometheus (Poetry) This is about an event....a meaningful event, a powerful one, and a collection of thoughts and feelings. It has its base in my heart and Stoker for which I thank him. [145 words] Lunatic Prometheus - Reprised (Poetry) Ideally this should be read directly after "Lunatic Prometheus" but if not, well it doesn't really matter. This is a vampire poem, and a lunatic's poem, and it is written in his/my own words. [171 words]
Hands The Doctor's Pet Lunatic
You lay your bleeding hands Upon my shoulders And all the world falls, And I shall never Roam by daylight more.
When night becomes real I steal into your safety Breaching all attempts to preserve The glittering net. I will alight upon your beauty And take what must be mine To survive.
Your light and my darkness Mingle in eternity Your purity and my death Entangled. You bleed As I breathe you and Our souls entwine.
Soul! I have not a soul, That which lives when life is gone. I have but darkness Which will linger and Which is my only land of safety.
You are of warmth and sun I of cold and moon But for this moment We are one.
You discard me, I am rejected As I stand in the moonlight With you upon my lips. Your essence has captivated me, Your purity is my salvation.
Deep in your mind you Have the answer, and you Plunge it into me, your Soul-dagger, my heart Screaming....I fall....
You will fall with me Into the silent dark.... The light cannot be with you And without you now That my touch has changed you.
Dream no more of light, My love; embrace the new night. Bleed no more but see much more; My last touch of light.

"I just noticed poor old Pet has no reviews :( so here's the first - I really love this poem, the expression's beautiful and it's got nice subtlety. Kudos from one eccentric to another: With the recent passing of Spike Milligan, the world's maddest genius, our days are numbered. Flaunt it, Pet. Mate, you got a gift for poetry." -- S.J. Fletcher, Sydney, Australia.
