ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Sixteen. Growing up too fast. Poetry in motion, verses flying past her on the highway. And she breathes in the air. She can smell the perfume of decaying unpublished literature. To her, it reminds her of home And the Pennsylvania sunshine. [June 2004]

The Concert Vianne-Marie Fortier
The lights stole the envy of the sun
They played tag across the stage
Trying to catch one another while illuminating
For only a short amount of time.
The singer, who was deep in song
Did not wish to play their foolish game
He squinted briefly and continued
To entertain the audience.
The group on the stage was a talented population
The lead singer was the son of a legendary folk artist
The drummer, a man of intense love for his instrument
The bassist, a rather silent man
And the guitarist, a unique spirit.
The concert hall was a turn of the century vaudeville
The walls adorned with carved faces
Gave the venue a very dark and appealing look
It made the place cozy.
The people around me were engrossed in the music
Singing along as if they had felt the writer's pain
With him when he wrote the music
But I was too wrapped in the very fact that I was there.
I squeezed through the throng
Pushing my way up to a closer spot
Where my vision could see more clearly
The four men I admired most.
By the time the night was over
I could hardly believe that this was real
A surreal haze seemed to cover the place
And made me feel unreal.
