On Broken Wing

Learning again how to live,
Moving forward instead of back.
Finding it in myself to forgive,
Colors blooming from my gray and black.
I dared but once to listen to my heart,
Closed my eyes and let myself fall.
I dealt this hand and I played my card,
Only to find there was a joker after all.
Bitter hearts cannot taste of love,
Salty tears only erode away the soul.
Desperate need portrays a push and shove,
Foolishness makes us think we need another to be whole.
For love should never be a game,
The heart is much to precious a thing.
Love is a wishful being without shame,
Indeed it can learn to fly on broken wing.
