Eyitemi Egwuenu
Perturbed by the tidals
I approach the squib-The cryptic verse
Of the singularity.
Tethered to the swirl of the Cosmos
I abort my perigee.
Metis pilots me yet again
To the event,the horizon
Where the gnome awaits;
To perch on a tee
For my next flight;
A forgetive mosaic spawned
By a Sphinx-
Meaning nothing.Meaning everything.
What wonders this pilot reveals,
Though sitting on a bone of Our Mother
This red clay from Panopeus
Slides up the anticline to catch a star
And down it to kiss a pearl-
Holding Mnemosyne anchored
To the meet of the two eagles
Of Zeus-I.
