Take A Chance Just A Guy
saw her sitting there
thought to myself, why not?
she seems sharp and clever enough
might as well give it a shot
never know just where it will lead
a new friend or maybe more
get a nice warm welcome
get your ass booted out the door
won’t be the first time for either
been down both roads more than once
so off goes your little message
now just sit and wait
for that warm hello
or maybe a gruff goodbye
now i must admit to memories
of walking across the floor
to the girl in the yellow dress
the pretty one with the auburn curls
standing in front of the bleachers
with all the other girls
you ask for the dance then wait
damn seconds seem like hours
who could ever guess
a guy so self-assured and cocky
would be shaking deep inside
quick, where’s the damn hole in the floor
i need somewhere to hide
a smile and she puts her hand out
there, that wasn’t all that bad
hard to get to know someone
without taking a little chance
your choice boys
stand in the corner like a wallflower
or ask the girl for a dance
