BULIMIA
Imagine obsessing over food you want to eat. Scales and what you weigh today. Fancy hearing voices in your head. Fingers down your throat.
A scenario.
The girl stands on the scales. Cannot eat today. Hunger gnaws in her stomach. Grabs a biscuit. Cannot stop at one. What else is in the cupboard, the fridge? Consumes till everything is gone. Then voices tell her she is fat. A glutton with no self control. Standing on the scales, weighs ten kilos more. Must rid herself of the food. Sticks fingers down her throat. Vomits till she feels empty, clean, relieved. “Will not do that again” She tells herself, “Will not eat for a week.” And she doesn’t. Then hunger gnaws again. “You’ll get fat if you eat” “An apple won’t hurt you haven’t eaten for a week” “An apple will make you fat. have some water instead” “An apple will stop the hunger” The voices in her head, debating whether to eat. She has an apple. Cannot stop at one. Looks for what else there is. Then weighs herself. Scales go up once more. Races to the bathroom, fingers down her throat. “Won’t do that again.”
Till hunger overpowers, the cycle hard to break.
