Invisible

Can you see me?
Through the music,
Through the brains,
Can you see through,
That which contains,
My essence, my soul,
My good-intentions,
My misguided talents
And my indiscretions?

People believe what their eyes see.
Let them believe.
But my eyes see differently.
I know differently.
I think differently.
Can you see the differences?
We all have two faces.
Can you show me yours,
If I show you mine?

Who am I?
Why am I here?
What purpose do I serve?
These questions invading my mind,
Can answer themselves.
I am Michael Hunter.
I exist to be Michael Hunter.
I serve the orders of Michael Hunter.

Yet Michael Hunter does not exist.
The music man.
The poet.
The writer.
Why does he not exist?
Why don’t you see me?
My eyes see you,
And what the eyes see,
Can see the eyes.
Yet I am still,
Invisible.

Can you tell me where,
I can find Michael Hunter?
Am I he?
But he cannot love,
Cannot hate,
Cannot feel sympathy,
For myself, himself, or you.
His opinions are not his own,
His voice changes as people change,
His behavior is searching.
If he cannot feel,
Does he exist?

I am not what you see.
Look once. Twice.
What can you see,
Beyond a face?
My lies and hurtful ways?
But these are hidden.
My truths and talents?
But these are mere illusions.
You cannot see what is not there,
Nor can I, and that is where,
The question becomes,
Can I see myself?
