No Halter.
Why do you shy, my dark-maned stallion?
What fancy makes you wary of my hand
That you stiffen and back when I approach?
Have strangers tried to tame you?
Would they bend your will to theirs
And take away your pride?
Have you suffered the insensitive boot,
The subtle sting of the whip,
And heard the harsh curses of fools?
Fear me not little horse.
I have no halter for your head,
Nor fetters for your feet.
Let us tread the moors together for a while,
And if you wish to go,
To travel other paths,
Seek out your kind,
I shall not stop you,
But rejoice in your freedom,
And wish you happy days.

My Colden Friend.
My Colden Friend, your face has closed.
Your mind has secrets not for me.
Your words do not complete the truth;
Those unsaid contain the core,
And may be but guessed at now,
Since your silent wish to remain apart
Will be honoured by one who fears to lose
An already far off friend.

A Song broke through after five years silence.
I felt it coming many times;
The pen would tremble, sketch a line or two, then droop.
The worldly noise blotted out the tune
Before I could catch the melody,
Yet I remembered it each time it reappeared.
Sometimes it stayed away for long periods, and I feared it lost.
But now I have it - tune, rythmn and harmony.
It sings from my pen, irrepressible, true and free!
