The Mirror
By Mandi Daddona
I sit in front of this bright reflector
And it tells me so much.
I see every flaw and characteristic that is unwanted.
And as I look deeper,
I begin to see less and less.
What I once thought was an alright feature
Has become something that needs
Dramatic alteration...
As I gaze longer into this mirror,
I become more and more self-conscious.
Seeing people I wish I looked like-
And now I am soon forgetting
My own identity.
Because I am consumed with the power of
My image;
Making me less and less of the person I once was believed to be.
