When You Walked Away
Kennedy O Obohwemu
I couldn't believe it,
I thought it was a dream;
Such a direct hit,
We used to be a team;
I made a mistake,
But really meant no harm;
Didn't mean your heart to break,
Tried my best to keep you calm;
You said you would leave,
I thought it was a joke;
Just couldn't believe,
You disappeared like smoke;
Tears crowded my eyes
As you took your first step;
I thought they were all lies,
Wish I could cry for help;
Then you moved on and on,
You never looked back;
It was a terrible morn,
I retired to the dark;
The tears poured out then,
Nothing had hit me that hard;
There's still much to learn,
Hope it'd never be this bad;
It's not been easy for me,
Really wish you could stay;
You left pains for all to see,
When you walked away.
