Mia Angello
I was so green
basking in the light of your spirit,
drinking the dew of your smile,
swaying to the rhythm of your song,
blossoming to the laughter in your eyes.
Your kisses lifted me toward heaven.
How could you leave me to the fall?
Detached from the branches of dreams,
pressed between absence of color,
mulched into shreds of nothingness--
I watch my friends dance in life's happy circles,
from one pile to the next--unaware of the
compost below.
