THE AUTHOR
Who me? Born in 1962. Wrote prolifically as a teenager, heavily influenced by books & the music of the time. Stopped writing for 20 years more or less. But started again...
Some of the work here dates from the "early period" - 1979-1982. The rest is since 2000.
I`ve no idea whether I`m a better writer now or then. Maybe I was never any good! I`ve always wondered.
Feedback most welcome...
I've not visited this site at all since January 2006 as I shortly after discovered the unfettred joys of blogging. I'm still writing and actually had a very good summer of writing. Paused In Traffic.
Peter Rivendell
How far from normal it seems to live in this city.
How far from ordinary it seems to work and walk amongst this throng.
No obvious indication of what feels so terribly wrong.
Listening to a different music.
Foreign stories playing in my head.
Sometimes wondering how I came to feel so dead,
So detached from life; so tenuous and fragile the threads
That hold the whole together.
Warmly clothed, but chilled and somehow naked instead.
When did the people in my world become like distant figures
Glimpsed from afar?
Their normal faces no more familiar than those in a passing car.
Or paused in traffic.
Someone turns to me and smiles.
