Junkie David Daniels
How does it feel
To have a monkey on your back
Stick the needle in your veins
Light the pipe,smoke the crack
You lay there and scream
Because you desperately need the drug
Something is crawling up your skin
You hallucinate and see the bugs
Just how old were you
When you had your first hit
Is it worth the pain you're feeling
Now that you lay there having a fit
Keep screaming for your methadone
Keep screaming for a pill
Each time you took the needle in your hands
You were going for the kill
Now you're in deep agony
Now you're in deadly pain
Did you think this would happen
Each time you stuck the needle in your veins
Your body is badly scared
Your scabs they all bleed
Now you are without your heroin
And it's something you desperately need
Slave to your addiction
The demons inside you have won
Locked up and screaming
The needle and the damage done
The medical staff tie you down
I listen to you cry
If you don't get your next fix
Surely you will die
If only you could get a taste
Of the drug that you desire
It would cool your burning soul
It would extinguish the aching fire
Your screams are loud and painful
You're and addict who is strungout
Robbing the public to pay for your high
Because the high is what it's all about
Does the drug take you to Heaven
Or does it leave you stranded in Hell
You desperately yearn for the drug
When your confined in your prison cell
In jail there are no street dealers
You can't easily purchase the junk
The other inmates hear you crying
And they label you a punk
You desperately hope that someone
Can smuggle you in a taste
But until then you lay crying
And all your tears go to waste
It will cost you ten packs of smokes
To get the drug you crave
Because if you don't get it soon
Your cell becomes an early grave
If you only had your freedom
Then you would be able to get high
But now that you're imprisoned
All you can do is scream and cry
I'm sorry but I can't help you
There's nothing I can do
Maybe I can make you more comfortable
By taking the handcuffs off of you
But if I release your hands
Will you scratch and claw your scars
Will you bang your aching head
Against the metal bars
Looks like you've made your bed
The bed where you now lay
And you will desire the drug you crave
Until your dying day
But hopefully one day you'll have freedom
Perhaps someone will pay your bail
But until then your just a prisoner
A junkie locked up in jail
