My Sad Little Boy David Daniels
What can you say about a boy
Who cries tears as soon as he walks through the door
If you gave him a million dollars
He'd be sad because he wanted a million more
Try to give him everything
Do what I can to make him glad
No matter how much love you give him
He still manages to be sad
Are you depressed my sweet son?
Do you have problems with your emotions?
I wish I could give you a cup of happiness
And let you drink it like a potion
Life is a struggle for him
Always a frown on his face
If there is a world of happiness
I desperately want to take him to that place
Try to make him happy
Try to make him smile
The sad little boy of New York
Becoming a man but emotionally still a child
I see the many changes in him
As he grows older through the years
The only things I can't see
Are all of his hidden tears
Tears that he cries inside
Because he craves so many material things
I don't think he'd be happy
If he were a prince and I a king
Sometimes I do see happiness
When he plays with his friends
But his hidden tears always return
His tears are always evident when the day ends
Seems like he only finds happiness
When he receives a gift or money
My son's world is so black
How can I make it sunny?
I try to communicate with him
But he talks with a smirk and a shrug
I can feel the unhappiness in his heart
Whenever I give him a hug
Perhaps it's his daddy's fault
Because I've spoiled him rotten
Will he ever be happy?
Or is that an emotion that he has forgotten
Mom and Dad do their best
We try to do what's right
But my son has been blinded by sadness
How can I help him find his sight?
The words I try to say to him
Or lost in the lines of communication
Should I put him in therapy?
Should I put him on medication?
My loving wife and I
Will continue to do our best
And we'll continue to kiss our son
At night when he lays to rest
I will continue to tell him,"I love you, son"
And I will continue to pray
That my son will find happiness
Through out all of his days
And hopefully he'll find happiness
Hopefully,one day he'll find joy
And his dark little world will become brighter
And the sun will shine down on my sad little boy
