Depth Patrick Collins
Green to one eye, red to the other,
Depth is perceived as if one is under a cover
An ocean to one fish, to the next a river,
Of this information, who is the giver?
Have I laid this out before them?
Have I caused this frown in place of a grin?
I search from the top to the floor, I still have yet to see what is behind that door.
I sometimes think that no one has the key
No one; not even me.
But that act as if they have this power,
this thing that is somehow beyond my bower.
Do they? Can they? Will they?
Will I? Can I? Will I?
It is there somewhere, somewhere:
This is a fact I am prepared to swear.
I haven’t found it, but it is buried here.
Deep down, in the core of my being.
I shall find it before my death,
find my meaning,
and find my depth.
