DESCRIPTION
This is a poem I wrote just now. it took me about ten minutes so it might not be very good. I haven't wrote poetry in a really long time. this is the first thing that i've posted here. [66 words]
AUTHOR'S OTHER TITLES (2) For An Addict (Poetry) This poem, which I wrote just now, is very raw with emotion because it is about someone very close to me whose drug habit got so bad he stopped caring about anything but himself. [108 words] Ugly (Poetry) Not really my usual style, but it's just something I had on my mind and this is how it came out:) [109 words] [Relationships]
We're Both Drowning Elizabeth Flores
I can't save you
I'm too weak to save myself
Crushed by your burdens, I'm exhausted
No tears
No thoughts
My mind is vacant
Only longing for the past, the easy days
I wish I could care
I wish I could carry your burdens
But my own are too heavy
They've robbed me of my strength
Despair aches in my bones
Joy is nothing but a distant concept
No hope
No escape
We're both drowning
I can't let you drag me deeper

"This was good, Elizabeth. Welcome and hope to see more from you. " -- Mattie.
"this is good! some nice wording. the last line could be better though....maybe "and you keep dragging me deeper". something more permanent would sound better. you're ending is optimistic but the whole poem is filled with despair. that would keep in the flow of the suject better, i think. take care..." -- km.
"You have a good point about the ending, km. Thanks for the encouragement and suggestion." -- Elizabeth Flores, Toledo, Ohio, USA.
"Sounds like your going through lots of garbish." -- Jeanette H.
"I know exactly how you feel. I allowed an addict's disease to suck the life out of me. I survived though, and my life is so much better today. Hang it there Elizabeth." -- JM.
