DESCRIPTION
This poem, which I wrote just now, is very raw with emotion because it is about someone very close to me whose drug habit got so bad he stopped caring about anything but himself.

Elizabeth Flores

My friend, you've died
and left behind a pretty shell
so lovely yet so cold
and empty as your many promises

I tried to love you
I tried to hate you
But neither could breathe life
into your once luminous eyes
No light could shine through that dirty glass

I stood in front of you
and let you watch the pain you'd inflicted
wash over me
Hoping there was one soft place left
in that crumbling hard heart

But most strangers
would have treated a dying dog with more compassion
My endless tears
were met with your dry and silent stare

So now I must walk away
and let you go
down that path that will continue to your demise
Just remember, at one time you were loved
goodbye, goodbye...
