God's Hands David Daniels
The darkness of my soul
Is as black as the deepest cave
My happiness is lost in eternity
My mind is filled with rage
Tears are all around me
I swim in the waters I've cried
Happiness is lost and forgotten
All thoughts of hope have died
No answers are given to me
No secrets of love are told
My bones break from the weight of gravity
Because I feel withered and old
At one time my heart was young
Like the soul of a newborn baby
But now that I have aged
I feel as if I've gone crazy
Every bird I see in motion
Makes me want to cry
I want to spread my wings
But they're broken and I can not fly
I often lay in bed
Thinking thoughts of death
I will continue to cry out in pain
Until my last dying breath
There is a fire that burns within
It's a fire that consumes me
I need a cool rain to ease my pain
I need to swim far away across the sea
I need arms to gently rock me to sleep
I need arms to hold me tight
I need to feel the warmth of another
I need sweet lips to kiss me goodnight
My eyes are sightless
My hearing is jaded
The dreams I used to have of freedom
Are now memories that have faded
My muscles ache in my skin
Because of the heavy load I bear
I've tried to find someone to love
But no one seems to care
Emptiness engulfs me
I am a loser at the game
I look for retribution for my good deeds
But instead I hang my head in shame
Lord,please rescue me
Lord,please come to my aid
I am ready to repent
For the sins I have made
Perspiration drips down my face
The sweat lies heavy upon my brow
All I can do is try and regain hope
My life is in God's Hands now

"I agree with mattie, its a great poem mate, remember poetry is a form of release and therefore usually it is the darker side that is prevalent, it is no malfeasance, so please keep up the great writing, Peace." -- Hugh.

"We all think that we live in a love and caring world. Even if you live with your own loved ones sometimes you will feel that even your own illness is a burden to them. And than it is only God to whom we can turn to. Death is a horrible subject to talk about and it is very difficult especially for old people who are left to die on their own. Good poem which l hope a lot of people would look around and stop to care a little for the elderly." -- linda, Halifax, Leeds.
