Wish To Be A Child Carla Thomson
I hear a sweet music when I walk in the fields
The long grass dances around me
The sweet beauty that I miss
I can see it in my head
The birds singing in the trees way yonder
Memories of my childhood playing like a movie in my head
Venturing through the hills and the fields
Climbing through the trees and wondering on the forest’s floor
Wishing to be a child again
When you’re a child, no one laughs when you tell them about your adventures
Or when you say it’s time to go out again
Getting older, becoming an adult
Not wanting to leave my adventures behind
Wishing to be a child all my life
Why all these responsibilities?
When I could be happy in the hills all my life
Without the troubles of this world
Why can’t I have my adventures anymore?
I miss the feeling that I had after days
Of these fantasies and stories playing in my mind
Leaving reality and playing the roles I saw
A child can get away with playing all day long as characters they long to be
But in a way if an adult or a teen did this very thing they would be thought to be insane

"Nice poem,(everyone in their minds will always remember their happy childhood days), and to mothers (who will always treat their children as children -even the children have grown up - they too will always see the child in them and in their granchildren too. Some man will not marry - for the fear of losing the freedom and your poem is true about the responbilites) Oh also when people grown very old - they also cling on to the childhood memories - which are the best- as in your poem states the movies etc... (memories are somesort of an escape of what freedom used to be- carefree.. loved your poem on this...." -- Amy, Hayes, UK.
