“Heated Exchange”
Dressed in moments
of frantic manipulations
we dance like animals
repulsed yet attracted
to the scent of sex
as our languid movements
become so fevered pitch
that along with the screaming
of our disgust for each other
becomes the highlight
of our whispered copulation
leaving this sense
of our timing
always skewed
furthermore each time
we can recall
over and over
a thousand such encounters
so unworthy of ourselves
but none the less true
of our relationship
at this time
no matter what the situation
in defense of us two
the messing up is mutual
there is nothing else to do
and we need to move on
but we don't

Windswept nights
porch door swings
banging unhinged
waking the walking dead
on sleepless nights
such as this
night after night
a solitary man reclines
scratching a belly bloated, obscene
staring wide eyed at a TV screen
outside rains pour
humming, subtle pop pops
down a filled up drain, cloging,stagnant
filled with vile decay
no one ever answers
in the pretty houses all in a row
disconnected, souless
blank eyes staring straight ahead
limbo, a black hole no one can fill
it's all part of the American nightmare dream
a solitary dream for anyone
who happens to fall through cracks sometime
