Sunny Days With My Son Green Emerald
You run along with the wind
Running out into the road
The sun shining on your sweet face
With me you want to take a race
You struggle to sit in your seat
Kicking your legs to your rhythm and beat
Singing along to nursery rhythms
Reminding me of my childhood times
“Mum where are we going?”
“I know! We’re going shopping!”
Then you kick and spit
In your pram you refuse to sit
As I chase after you
You run as far as your legs can take you
Not once looking back
“That’s it! I’m going home now!”
Then you come running back
“I’m sorry mum, I love you mum, your gorgeous mum!”
Sweet talking me, just like your Dad
Your such an energetic little lad
Every time I promise never to take you out
Whilst you lie on the floor, you scream and shout
I know I’ll miss our day trips when you’re a grown man
That’s why, I want to make the best I can
Of your childhood
I look forward to more of our trips under the sun
Even though you drive me mad, I love seeing you run
I hope for loads more sunny days!
